Stan Green was the man and so was
Ho Chi Minh.
Don’t mix Lust with Pulse and Water,
was their motto, two men
that sought to change the world
in flat caps, and pebble glasses.
Each day, Stan strapped a board
to his chest and held a placard
above the crowds on Oxford street.
Less Lust from Less Protein
and Protein Wisdom
was his mission from Dawn to Dusk.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh washed
dishes in a diner on Drayton Green.
A man with a passion as big as Stan’s,
he returned home with plans
to change his land of birth.
No dreamy soufflé or buttered veg,
he swapped Beluga for Bulgar wheat,
and truffles for Humble Pie to cure
the proletariat of their excesses.
